Dr. A. Sigurdsson

Dr. Asgeir Sigurdsson was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. Graduated with cand. odont. degree from University of Iceland in 1988. After one year in private dental practice in Iceland he moved to Chapel Hill, NC USA. Graduated from University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, School of Dentistry with certificate in endodontics and Master of Science degree in 1992 with emphasis on neurobiology and pain perception.

Dr. Sigurdsson was a full time faculty member at UNC School of Dentistry from 1992 until 2004. He was appointed as the Graduate Program Director of Endodontics (specialty training) at UNC in 1997 and severed in that position until 2004. He has been in private endodontic practice in Reykjavik and London from 2004. Currently he is appointed as Honorary Clinical Teacher in Endodontology, UCL Eastman Dental Institute, London UK and adjunct Associate Professor at UNC School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill.

Dr. Sigurdsson is active in many professional organizations is currently the President of the International Association for Dental Traumatology. He serves on the editorial board professional journals like International Endodontics Journal, Dental Traumatology and Oral Surg, Oral Med, Oral Pathology. He has been invited to lecture in 26 countries on various aspects of endodontics, dental trauma, pain perception and diagnosis as well as on forensic dentistry. In 1998 he received the Edward M. Osetek Educator Award, awarded by the American Association of Endodontists.
